On November 27, 2025, in Hanoi, the European Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam (EuroCham), in cooperation with the Trade Promotion Agency under the Ministry of Industry and Trade, organized the plenary session of the Green Economic Forum 2025 (GEF 2025) – a flagship event promoting the transition toward a green growth model in Vietnam and the region. Under the theme “Lead the Change, Shape the Future,” the forum continues to serve as a strategic dialogue platform connecting the government, business community, and international organizations to translate climate commitments into concrete actions.

Within the framework of the forum, Mr. Mai Xuân Phong – Chief Executive Officer of Vietnam Seaproducts Corporation (Seaprodex) – was honored to be invited as a guest speaker, focusing on two key topics:

(i) ESG practices in the seafood industry; and

(ii) Vietnam’s competitive advantages in agricultural trade with Europe under global green commitments.

In his presentation, Mr. Mai Xuân Phong emphasized that ESG (Environmental – Social – Governance) is no longer a voluntary trend but has become a mandatory international standard, especially in major export markets such as the EU. He affirmed that effective ESG implementation lays a solid foundation for Vietnamese seafood enterprises to strengthen their competitiveness, meet increasingly stringent import requirements, and contribute to the national orientation of green growth. Proactive compliance with green standards, traceability requirements, and international certifications is the key for Vietnam’s agricultural and seafood products to maintain and expand their presence in this highly demanding yet high-potential market.
